IC Information:
Name: The Vision / Victor Shade
Fandom: Marvel Comics // The Avengers
Timeline: Some point in time between the Vision and the Scarlet Witch #12 and West Coast Avengers #34.
Age: As a synthezoid, Vision's age is irrelevant. However, his appearance and mentality is that of a man in his mid to late 20s.

Appearance:
Vision is 6'3" and 300 lbs. He appears to be very muscular, but that is just the way his body was designed. He has no hair and his eyes are black with a faint, yellow glow. His 'skin' is his most noticeable feature, as it is bright red. In costume, he wears a large, yellow cape, yellow gloves, and a green body suit. Otherwise, he prefers to wear knit-sweaters with jeans. Vision owns a holographic image inducer, meaning he can disguise his appearance at will, as long as it is within his height range. His favored holo-appearence is that of his self-created alter-ego, Victor Shade. As Victor, Vision looks like a regular caucasian man, with blue eyes and black hair that is graying.
Abilities: While Vision is a synthetic human, meaning that he has all the tissue and organs of a regular man, only made of unnatural material, he is a hundred times more durable. He is essentially solar powered and while he doesn't need food and drink to survive, he can consume them at convert it to energy if the sun is not available to power him. In addition, he posses the following superhuman abilities:
  • Holographic Manipulation - allows him to disguise his appearance
  • Audio Sensitivity - Adjusts the sensitivity of his audio receptors to a point where he can hear extremely faint sounds.
  • Visual Scanners - Capable of scanning life forms, energy sources and other objects to detect what they are composed of.
  • Vocal Imitation - Capable of replicating and mimicking the voices of other people, as well as create his own voices.
  • Superhuman Stamina - Capable of exerting himself for twenty-four hours before fatigue poison builds up in his artificial blood, causing him to tire.
  • Superhuman Reflexes - Has a reaction time more than twice as fast than that of an average human.
  • Solar Absorption - The solar jewel on Vision's forehead absorbs solar energy that his body converts directly into usable forms. Absorption occurs constantly at a rate determined by the amount of energy for his body needs.
  • Solar Energy Beams - Channels limited amounts of solar energy back through the gem at will, creating a narrow, hot beam of infrared and microwave radiation. He can sustain a heat beam at maximum intensity for about 2 minutes before he begins to tax his supply of energy for his other bodily functions. He commonly uses his eyes for this purpose as well.
  • Density Control -  Able to control his density and solidity. By shunting a non-critical portion of his body's molecules away from him, he can become a weightless, transparent, intangible wraith, unable to be touched by solid matter. By accruing extradimensional mass and fortifying his body with it, he can make his body extremely hard and durable to the point that missiles will not harm him.
  • Superhuman Durability - Can become extraordinary massive and hard as diamond. However, when this heavy, Vision is barely able to move without causing massive stress to his system, thus risking malfunction.
  • Superhuman Strength - Strength increases with his density.
  • Intangible Flight - At a minimum weight, he can fly through the air weightlessly. He can carry passengers while remaining solid on the outside, but he is not likely to fly as fast as he normal.
  • Physical Disruption - Can use his density control offensively be attaining minimum density (intangibility). Passing a part of all of his body within another living being and ever so slightly increasing his density (tangibility). Even increasing his density slightly is sufficient to cause the organism he passes through excruciating pain, a shock to the nervous system, and unconsciousness.
  • Computer Interface - Can communicate and interact with other computer systems.
  • Superhuman Intelligence - Capable of rapid analysis of huge amounts of data and rapid memorization.
Personality: The Vision, although built for evil purposes, is a fundamentally good man. He rebelled against his 'father', Ultron, instead assisting the very team he was designed to attack, becoming an Avenger. He is loyal to his teammates, puts other people's safety - especially civilian's - over his own, and will even try and talk a situation down instead of fighting. Still, he sometimes suffers extreme self doubt and has difficulty expressing his human emotions.

Despite feeling fully human, Vision still has many robotic aspects within his personality. He is very analytical and precise, he hardly uses contractions, he takes things very seriously, and prefers intellectual games, such as chess.

History: To attack his 'father', Hank Pym, the robotic villain Ultron created a 'son'. Using the deactivated android body of WWII hero Jim Hammond for a basis and the then deceased Simon Williams' (also known as Wonder Man) brain patterns, Ultron was able to create an android he called a 'synthezoid' - a synthetic man. He then sent his creation after the Avengers. The Wasp, upon seeing him for the first time, described him as some sort of 'vision', giving the synthezoid his name. The Avengers convinced Vision to turn against Ultron and thus became a member of the team.

While glad to be a member of the team, Vision struggled with his own humanity. He perceived himself as less than human and that, while he had emotions, they were not natural. To further complicate matters, Vision found himself romantically attracted to Wanda Maximoff, his teammate the Scarlet Witch. She likewise fell in love with him, despite his protests that she could find someone better. She loved and accepted him for who he was, synthetic flesh and all, and in turn, taught him how to accept himself. The two eventually married and bought a house in Leonia, New Jersey.

However, their house was burnt down by neighbors who detested the presence of the heroes, and they soon returned to the Avengers. Vision even became leader of the Avengers at one point, but, unbalanced by being shut down by the villain Annihilus (an alien entity hailing from the Negative Zone) and subsequently rebooted by Dr. Pym, he attempted to take control of the world's computers. With the help of the other Avengers, Vision was restored to normal, and even removed his 'control crystal' - the device that put restraints on his emotions - but several governments began to monitor him closely. Tired of the government monitoring and deciding that they needed a break from the stressful life of an Avenger, Wanda and Vizh bought a new home in Leonia, determined not to be run out of that house like they had the last.

With the control crystal gone, Vision found himself enjoying emotions he didn't have access to before. He found himself drawn to the idea of familial bonds, leading him to connect with Martha Williams, the mother of Wonder Man and the Grim Reaper. As his mind was based on Simon Williams', Vision viewed Martha as a mother and she soon accepted him as a son. In turn, Vision grew closer to Simon, to the point where they viewed themselves as twins instead of just brothers.

Vision, extremely happy with the turn his life had taken, approached his wife with the idea of starting their own family. After defeating the Salem's Seven - the evil grandchildren of  the Scarlet Witch's teacher in witchcraft, Agatha Harkness - Wanda was able to impregnate herself with Vision's essence by using their magic combined with her own. Nine months later, Wanda gave birth to identical twin boys, Thomas and William. Although the two miss their lives as heroes, they are content and happy with taking care of the boys.

Roleplay Sample - Log:
The child squealed happily as he toddled across the living room, a shiny, bright red headpiece clutched in his fist.

[Thomas Simon, I suggest you come back here  with your mother's headpiece this instant.

Vision supposed that Tommy either didn't hear him, or he just didn't care. Knowing his older son's personality, it was most likely the latter. With Tommy completely content to wander around the living room, happy with his perceived triumph, Vision turned his attention his younger son, who was spinning around in circles, a giant, yellow cape draped over his head, covering his body. Vision removed the cape, draping it on the arm of a nearby chair. Billy, though, continued spinning until he fell flat on his bottom. His face scrunched up and he held his arms out, waiting for his father to pick him up. Vision complied, scooping the boy up in his arms.

Wanda had only left the house fifteen minutes ago, but in that short amount of time, the boys figured out how to escape from their playpen and get into the box that contained the costumes.

[Perhaps we should locate your brother, yes?]

He could hear Tommy giggling from behind the couch, so obviously confident that he wouldn't be found. Smiling softly, Vision slowly moved towards the couch. It was a game, one that the adults often found themselves playing. Tommy would hide - usually somewhere fairly obvious - and the present adult would pretend not to notice him, instead searching for him as if he had the greatest hiding place in the world.

[Do you know where Tommy went, Billy?]

The child in his arms looked up at him, frowning, his brow crinkling, as if to say he didn't even care where his brother had wandered off to. Sensing Billy's lack of interest, Vision set him gently on the couch before peeking over the back.

[Found you.]

Tommy looked up and, with a shriek, tried to run away, but Vision was already lifting him over the couch.

[You know better than to play with mommy's costume, Thomas,] Vision scolded gently, taking the red headpiece out of the toddler's hands.  He set it next to him on the couch before pulling both boys into his lap. [I do believe that it is time for your nap.]

At the mention of naps, Tommy (who had previously been trying to grab the headpiece, yelling, "Mine! Mine!") began to wiggle around, desperate to get out of his father's grasp, while Billy watched him curiously. Vision stood up, and Tommy's escape attempt became more frantic. He twisted around, trying to scramble over Vision's shoulders.

"No! Nonononononononononononononononononononono."

[Yes. Nap time.]

Tommy stopped struggling, slumping over so he was draped across his father's shoulder, but he continued to whine, making sure everyone knew he was unhappy.

Unfazed by his eldest son's melancholy, Vision continued up the stairs and into the twins' bedroom. He made sure they were secure in their cribs and left the room silently, as both boys - despite Tommy's earlier protests - were drifting off to sleep.

Roleplay Sample - Journal:
[The video feed begins with a man with red skin and deep black eyes with a faint yellow glow staring intently and curiously at the camera. It was not hard to learn how to work it. The technology behind it is quite basic, less advanced than Tony's system at Avengers Mansion, and far less advanced than even his own system.]

[This is the Vision, former member of the Avengers. Please, if there is anyone that comes across my broadcast, any information you may have would be greatly appreciated.]

[He doesn't recognize his surroundings. It doesn't look like any of the previous holding cells he had been held in by the government. He knows he must be a captive, due to the collar positioned around his neck. All attempts to remove it have proved futile. It is strange that a cell would offer a personal communication device, however. Perhaps it was an error on the part of his captors. He doesn't know how he got here and that is possibly the most concerning aspect. If he is here, where is Wanda? Where are the boys? Are they safe? Are they hurt? But before he can even begin thinking of locating them, he has to analyze his situation, learn his own location. His mind begins thinking of possible scenarios, possibles reasons for this, and possible ways to get a message out to the largest audience possible.]

[I appear to be in a holding cell of some sort. I know nothing of the group who has captured me or what they want. I have little detail of my current situation nor am I aware of my location. Again, I would be extremely grateful for any information you may have.]

This game includes horrible mental and physical torture of your character. After reading the rules/faq for clarification, how do you expect your character to handle this and continue to function?

He's been subjected to treatment like this before and he knows what it's like to not control his own body. He can take a lot that's thrown at him. The only thing that might break him is losing his family.

Other:
So... Vizh is a super human robot, practically a walking computer, so would only his super human abilities be shirked, or would his memory files and ability to tap into computer systems go away too? Also, the bolded, yellow brackets ([ ]) indicate his speech. In the comics, his speech bubbles are yellow and square, so I thought that it would be fun to use it while RPing
